Ifrit is a Fire-elemental aeon in Final Fantasy X who can be summoned into battle. His fayth is a former member of the Crusaders whose statue resides in the Kilika Temple. Ifrit is a humanoid, demonic-looking beast. He has a reddish brown complexion with light red hair, and a bulky appearance. He always appears hunchback. Ifrit's unique ability is Meteor Strike , which conjures a ball of fiery rock and throws it at a single target, penetrating their Protect status. His Overdrive is Hellfire , where he bathes the enemy party in a ball of rising flame and then throws a chunk of earth at them, causing Fire damage.

In their quest, they make stops at the many temples in Spira. At each temple, they must find their way to the Chamber of the Faith. There the Faith will grant them the ability to summon their Aeon in battle. These Aeons with their devastating attacks and spells can turn the tide of any battle, and help the High Summoner reach her final destination in Zanrakand. Aeons are an essential part of Final fantasy X's entire storyline. The majestic beasts can only be summoned by Yuna. The Aeon will always get the first attack when summoned.

I had never seen anything like it in my life. Sure, it was a little scary, but still I could feel a strange kind of gentleness from it. The aeons are obtained by completing the Cloister of Trials at each of Spira 's temples. They differ from previous summons in the Final Fantasy series , as they can be controlled by the player once summoned , and they can only be summoned by Yuna. Summons being directly controllable as opposed to being mere cut scenes has since appeared in later games in the series as well.
